Web Design is complicated: UX (user experience), UI (user interface), front-end client work, graphics design, Usability and Accessibility, (where usability is how simple the site is to get things done and accessibility being how persons with disabilities use the site). There is a lot going on with Web Design.

The 5 in HTML 5 just means the latest structural code that is implemented to define the HTML used to keep up with all the changes on the web worldwide. There will not be an HTML 6 anytime soon. HTML builds the structure and content of a web site.

CSS has grown into a mixed syntax that defines the presentation of a page on the web; it also has grown into the full blown specification for how the DOM (Document Object Model) interacts with the JavaScript functions; this specification has grown very extensive in past few years.

JavaScript controls the behavior of the website as it is presented on the page; it communicates to the DOM, handle server calls, and sets up listeners that keep track of the events produced on the page (clicks, mouse movements, etc. ).

Angular made great progress by allowing one-page sites (gotta love the Anchor Tag!); but man-O-man it got very complex fast; large sites became so convoluted and messy. Angular II set the standard that other Angular advancements would support.

On the server is an open software language that handles the HTTP requests and delivers both the static and dynamic code to be sent out to the client. PHP is super powerful server-side language with the greatest number of sites on the Internet.

More than a version control system; it allows teams to work together and build repositories of code that can be easily updated, shared, and maintained. There's a little bit of a learning curve when actually working with Git; but since it's takeover by Microsoft it's sure to be supported.

Adobe Animate IDE provides a way to add motion objects into the canvas. These objects can then be controlled by normal JavaScript code. Adobe Animate builds the resulting environment nicely; that is, files are generated that can organize the actual animation that gets outputted to the <canvas> tag -- in real time. Animate also is a nice platform to use Adobe Illustrator files together to mix media files together to build short videos and social media ads.

JavaScript Programming is the glue that holds together the HTML 5 and the CSS 3. These two technologies have been designed with "hooks" for the JavaScript Framework to connect to and exchange data. JavaScript is a Simple, Easy, straight-forward Language. Although it's original purpose was much simpler than it has grown to be; it is HIGHLY supported with transpilers, frameworks, library plugins, and a HUGE amount of API's. These extra Languages and Frameworks get Transpiled (TypeScript) into good old fashioned JavaScript (vs. ES5).

  • No unread posts Angular Framework -- August, 2018
A theoretical and practical survey of advanced concepts and practices in current JavaScript technology using Angular 2, and 4 (like there is a big difference -- not). Angular Framework is a method of implementing Full Stack Development; this class uses the MVC development model to exemplify this (particular) implementation of JavaScript. NodeJS and npm and a bunch of provided compilers (TypeScript => JavaScript) help us understand the code. This course teaching reading code; there are no big projects in this course; the course jumps into the environment the first day. Along the way we spend time reviewing particular JavaScript principles that are needed to understand the code we study. Welcome Travis, Maria, Sumani, Daniel, Yi, and David.

  • No unread posts CSS -- Oct 19th, 2018 - Collin College -- Friday Evening Class
Here is where Eric, Lu, Ruchi, Preston, Srinivas, Holli, Ruchi, Shilpa, and James come together learn about a very overlooked (complex) web development structure. CSS is a collection of code statements that direct the visual and functional response of a website. It formats and specifies the (magical) transformation that occur in the web browser. Over the past few years it has defined the specifications that direct both the HTML and JavaScript inside this browser; that is, it influences much more than just visually (as it use to). Therefore it's absolutely necessary to understand the syntax of CSS to fully control what gets presented on the web. CSS has a one line, simple, and direct syntax; but, what's inside each of a simple top-level items (there are three of them) control thousands of design choices for your websites.
